Seven People Killed in Twin Roadside Bomb Blasts in Bannu:

At least seven people were killed and three others were injured in two consecutive roadside bomb explosions in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, police said. PakTopic’s.com

According to police, the incident happened in the Barghanto area of the mountainous Wazir subdivision. The first blast targeted a passenger Datsun van carrying members of a local peace committee. The explosion was so intense that the vehicle was completely destroyed.

Five people died on the spot in the first blast, while a number of others were injured. The deceased were identified as Haji Ghaffar Din, Saqib Iqbal, Chhota Aziz, Rahmatullah and Allah Noor. All of them belonged to the Hathi Khel tribe.

After the blast, rescue teams and local residents rushed to the scene and started shifting the injured and the bodies to nearby hospitals. However, during the rescue operation, another roadside bomb exploded near the vehicle carrying the victims.

The second blast killed two more people and left three others injured, increasing the death toll to seven. Police said the injured were moved to hospital for treatment.

District Police Officer Yasir Afridi confirmed the incident and said authorities have launched an investigation. Security officials are also collecting details to determine who was behind the attack.

The tragic incident has spread fear in the area, while local people have demanded immediate action against those responsible.

District Police Officer Yasir Afridi confirmed the incident and said security forces have started an investigation to trace those involved in the attack.

President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the twin blasts and expressed sorrow over the loss of lives. He offered condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.

The latest incident has created fear in the area, while local residents have demanded strict action against those responsible.
